On June 23, 2025, we had the opportunity to give students in the Automotive Electrical Systems Engineering program at the Hochschule Landshut insights into current developments surrounding Catena-X and VEC.

In the first presentation, Thomas, Project Manager at S-IT, introduced the topic of Catena-X. The focus was on the initiative's objectives, the importance of interconnected data spaces, and specific industrial use cases. The exchange with the students was particularly valuable, as they were already able to contribute their own knowledge and questions to the discussion.

Following this, Matija, Software Developer at S-IT, presented the topic of the Vehicle Electric Container (VEC). In addition to explaining the origin and development of the standard, he highlighted current challenges and future application opportunities in automotive electrical systems and wiring harness development. The presentation also provided insights into Asset Administration Shells and Digital Twins, as well as their importance for the digital connectivity of engineering data.

The event concluded with a joint discussion session featuring Prof. Dr. Götz Roderer and the students. During this session, the presented topics were explored in greater depth, and different perspectives on future developments within the industry were discussed.

For us, engaging with universities and students is an essential part of fostering knowledge transfer between research, education, and industrial practice. We are therefore especially grateful for the opportunity to share our experience while also gaining new inspiration from the academic environment.

We would like to thank Hochschule Landshut, Prof. Dr. Götz Roderer, and all the students for the invitation, the engaging discussions, and their strong interest in the topics presented.
